I didn’t want to change the steering , but as time has past it’s getting harder to steer and on the open road it feels vague.

Can anyone recommend someone who can replace the old worm and peg with rack and pinion in the West Midlands.

    Thanks

Robert Grinter in Earls Colne fits them or supplies a kit . One option he offers is a vastly improved steering column over the usual Triumph column. If going that route then an upgraded radiator is a useful add on.

    his number is 01787 222 188

Hi, Whereabouts are you in the West Midlands. I am in Brierley Hill and have done this mod. on one of my cars. would be happy to give advice if you wished to try to do it yourself. As it is not complicated.

    Regards Dave.

I am based in Lichfield , and am planning to change the steering because I have issues that prevent me from man handling the car and picking up spanners etc……..so I have no chance of doing it myself……..I wished I could

If you have a local garage that does your repairs you could purchase a complete kit from B. Thorne and get them to fit it. There is lots of useful info. on the DLOC forum to aid this. He supplied my kit and I was very pleased with the quality etc.
If you do find someone to do the job, I would be happy to visit you to give them some free advice.

All parts aquired and due to take car to Albrighton this weekend along with small wish list, including, trying to make the drivers door latch operate without repeated slamming ( unlike the passenger door that closes lightly and positively)

Suki has completed the rack and pinion conversion ( and a series of other things that had accumulated 🤔), but one thing he is yet to do is fit a cam to stop the tyres rubbing on the body of full lock ( I never managed to have that problem before ) but with the old steering I had the tyres (radials in wires) at 31 psi to ease the low speed steer , but now I have R&P what tyre pressure is recommended?

BTW Suki is as good as you mentioned and that collection of cars he has …….wow !

Now the install is complete ( much better ) the electric fan I have fitted only covers one half of the radiator so I was wondering if it made more sense to have a bigger fan fitted or ( as I have a servo to make the brakes a bit easier) remove the radiator to fit the servo behind and lower the bottom hose position to make the radiator work better and limit any sludge build up……anyone have any thoughts?

Hi, If your cooling system is in good working order I would suggest that you see how the car performs this summer before you change anything. My fan only tends to cut in if I am stuck in traffic for a while so yours may well be up to the job.

    Dave.
