The original wheel has started to crumble and is deteriorating quickly. I have a replacement original to wheel to fit.
I want to know the sequence of parts removal.

Many years ago I did have to replace the horn push by removing the long stator tube that runs through the column.
I have removed the 2 grub screws from the steering wheel hub and the nut at the end of the stator tube.
the tube is free to rotate but is reluctant to extracted from the column.

I don’t want to force the horn assembly and break it. Is there is something else holding it in place?

I seem to remember having to feed the replacement horn assembly wiring through the column and reattaching them after the worm steering box.

If I manage to extract the horn assembly can I disconnect the wiring at the top end to save feeding them through the column?
