SP250s CARS FOR SALE
1962 Daimler SP250 Dart For Sale Derby UK
For sale is my much loved and enjoyed Daimler SP250 Dart. The car was first registered on the 8th January 1962. I am the 4th owner & have looked after her for the past 14 years. I purchased the car from a Morgan Dealer part restored and have continued to maintain the car over that period. Work has included some chrome work, new hood and hood bag, new carpets while the dashboard, door cards and front seats have all been reupholstered in black leather as funds allowed. Last year I also fitted a new exhaust system.
The car is largely original and still sports her original steering box and steel wheels with chrome hub caps. The previous owner had fitted a modernised cooling system (header tank) and an electric fan which work well keeping her cool in traffic.
Overall the car is in good condition, drives well and can be relied on to keep up with modern traffic.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to arrange a viewing.

1961 Daimler SP250 Dart. For sale by Auction. 21st September 2019, Historics Auctioneers. Brooklands Museum
Estimate: £35000 – £40000
This lovely example of this rare model is presented in superb condition throughout having been totally nut and bolt restored over a five year period between 2010 and 2015. All invoices, as well as a full photographic history of the work carried out, can be seen in the history file. Its light blue paintwork is in lovely condition as is the dark blue leather interior, complimented by its matching tonneau and hood. The car does retain its original factory hard top which is unrestored and has covered a mere 2,000 miles since the engine was rebuilt. It also benefits from a rack and pinion steering unit, new stainless steel exhaust, modern seat belts and an electronic ignition. The history file is extremely comprehensive and makes for fascinating reading with invoices going as far back as 1962 and a small note book belonging to one of the owners in 1962, who recorded how much fuel he put in the car, at what mileage and what the cost was! Remarkable! The car also comes with its original owner’s handbook and a small handbook supplement for accessories and extras. This is one of the finest SP250s on the market and being the series ‘B’, is certainly the more desirable.

1962 Daimler SP250 Dart. For Sale. Restoration project in USA. Will assist with shipping. Offers on $12,000
I’m looking to sell a factory royal red 1962 Daimlersp250 B spec car that was originally from California. I have owned the car fora little over five years and have decided to sell it because I have too many projects and hate to see this one just sitting. when I purchased the car it was just a roller, since then I have acquired a Daimler sedan engine (and the parts to convert it) and a rebuilt sp250 transmission.
When I originally purchased the engine it had been pulled from a Daimler sedan and was sitting in a warehouse. Once I got the engine home I started to clean and inspect it to see what kind of condition it was in. I was amazed when I pulled the valve covers to find almost no grease build up on the heads. I then disassembled the carbs to clean them and was amazed to find no tared fuel in the bowls. Due to these facts, I believe the engine has very few miles. I have since purchased most the parts to convert the sedan engine to sp250 specs except for the distributor and air filters. According to Robert Grinter “You will also need to drill the spigot bearing location on the Saloon crankshaft in order to accommodate the Dart’s first motion shaft”(https://www.robertgrinter.co.uk/resources/V8-Engine-Differences3.pdf) I have test fitted the transmission to the engine and didn’t have any clearance issues, I am guessing all later sedan engines had the enlarged spigot bearing area. I also have a rebuilt starter and generator.
The transmission was professionally rebuilt and purchased from Darts of Dixie based out of Pensacola, Florida. I have the transmission tunnel, transmission mount, and new rubber mounts. It’s a manual.
The chassis is rock solid with the correct disc brake rear end.
the fiberglass is in great shape with no signs of previous repair. As you can see in the photo, the base color is the factory royal red; it looks like this car has never been sanded bare, but they continued shooting layers on top of the original paint.
I have the front grille (the chrome is in good condition), I have the passenger window regulator (removed by PO), and I have the factory radiator (not leak tested). The only pieces that I know I am missing are the seats, driver’s side top latch, radiator fill canister, sp250specific distributor, air filters, wheel covers, and the rear trim pieces around the taillights.
Here are the facts on the car, given to me by Laurence Jones- Daimler historian.
chassis no: 100784; engine no: 96370; body no:737 – 1281 it was ordered on the 12th June 1961 by British Motor Distributors of San Francisco under reference no: 10/927/161 it was painted Royal Red with black leather interior with the door cards and seats piped in red. It was fitted with the following hater& demister; leather covered steering wheel;windshield washers; adjustable steering column; chrome plated exhaust finishers; cigarette lighter; tonal cover an front bumper; ace wheel discs and white wall tires. It was made ready for shipping on the 19th June 1961, so I would have thought should have been in San Francisco by October 1961 – but not too sure.
Currently, the engine and transmission are not in the car, but I would be glad to mount the engine and pack all the parts in boxes for transportation. I will need 30 days from purchase date to get it all packed up. For all international buyers I can deliver the car to the port of Houston,TX for an additional $500.
I have a clear title in hand. I have the car listed on eBay starting at $12k but I am open to offers and would prefer to sell it on here.
