So bit of a conundrum, I have a recently replaced 74 degree C thermostat that i believe his working fine that passes coolant through an original cleaned and flushed radiator that when up and running at speed indicates circa 135-145 F operating temperature on the temp indicator gauge.

Problem being that the temperature on the gauge at cruising speeds of 60-70mph is running between 135 F( 57 degrees C) or 145 F ( 64 degrees C) which in principal is great in terms of running nice and cool. However, in theory it should not be enough temperature to open the thermostat for efficient running and temperature management through the radiator and electric fitted fan. I have noted that in various manuals etc the operating temperature is generally regarded as 175 F ( 80 degrees C) which would of course allow the thermostat t open

Radiator gets hot and coolant appears to be flowing through the header tank and heating in car is nice and warm so all appears to be working correctly. Should i be suspecting a faulty transmitter or perhaps a poorly calibrated gauge or both?

I know I had issues finding the correct sending unit a few years back. I purchased from David Manners which turned out to be wrong, very inaccurate and if I recall Barry Thorne had the correct one. Again from memory I believe the correct one was manufactured Italy.
