ParticipantHi All
Unfortunately while on a run before Christmas the crankshaft damper ‘let go’ and the rubber separated. After dismantling the radiator, steering rack , and other associated items, I am left with trying to get the crankshaft nut off which is putting up some resistance!
Question -is there a lock washer on the shaft or am I missing something!
Many thank, and a Happy New Year!

ParticipantHi Simon, There is a keyed washer behind the nut. To arrest rotation of the crankshaft I usually position a steel bar between two slave bolts in the crankshaft pulley to react against the chassis. You can then use a suitable socket to undo the nut which is right hand thread b.t.w.
Good luck.

ParticipantDear All,
Having failed to remove the offending nut by using various means, including air guns! I have given up and need to tow the car to the local garage.
Does anyone have any tips on the best place to attach a tow rope.
Any ideas would be use full
Many thanks
Simon
