So thought i would inspect the fuses in the car and wondered whether the correct fuses have been fitted in the fusebox.

Top fuse = 25 amp continuous,50 amp blow

    Bottom fuse = 35 amp

Can anyone confirm what the correct fuse rating should be and what the top and bottom circuit serves?

    Hi,
The bottom fuse protects circuits controlled via the ignition switch including wipers, indicators and fan.
The top fuse protects the horn and cigar lighter circuits.
Both my fuses are rated at 35A but I have lower rated inline fuses and relays to protect individual circuits and give localised protection.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Jim,

Really helpful. I think it is probably wise to replace both fuses with new 35 amp fuses as the existing ones are both quite tired looking and corroded, and clean up the terminals in the fuse box as they are also quite oxidised to ensure the best connection possible.

Good to know which circuit does what as well. I have a separate modification for an electric cooling fan for the radiator which runs on a separate in line circuit protected by a blade fuse. Must check what amperage fuse that is, as i would like to carry a spare onboard in the event of a problem whilst out and about.
