Thanks, Lawrence and Dave for your help away from the forum.

It seems there may be something unusual in my car, possibly related to the Dynalite output, but I found that a set from Classic Car LEDs worked with only the slightest hint of a flicker at idle. So they’re less susceptible to whatever it is!

FYI, the Stella Lux units are very compact and have a cooling fan, plus the control box and connector, which fit quite easily between reflector and bowl. The Classic Car LEDs have instead a heat sink, a bigger box and a bigger connector and are very difficult to cram in, not forgetting to add a heat shield (a square of soldering mat) to protect the original wiring from the heat sink. They are waterproofed to IP65 so that they can be installed outside the bowl but cable lengths would leave them in the wheelarch.

Stayed up late to test them (it’s midsummer) and found them very good. I also appreciate the much-reduced current draw.
