THE FUTURE OF pasSPort
Thank you to all the interested parties who have replied following our request for feedback on the future of pasSPort. The results were most interesting, and it was almost unanimous that pasSPort should continue although not necessarily in its present form.
Many replies suggested that publication should be less frequent than annually, and most respondents would be willing to make an annual donation of say £10 whether pasSPort is published on-line or in paper form. Those preferring an on-line or paper version were split fairly evenly with a slight preference shown for the on-line version. A number of respondents had no preference.
We are also now considering offers of corporate sponsorship to cover part of our costs, and hopefully a decision regarding the future of pasSPort will be forthcoming in the near future.
WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE OF THE DAIMLER SP250 OWNERS’ CLUB
The club operates on a subscription free basis and relies on the help and generosity of SP250 owners around the world.
The site is for all owners whether current, past or future, together with enthusiasts of the marque. The forum is a global platform allowing SP250 owners and fans to connect.
The purpose of the club is twofold:
1. To promote the SP250 by supplying information, mainly on the website, but also organising a presence where possible at various classic car shows around the world. There are several other SP250 clubs and groups around the world with whom we work.
2. Research, helping to provide a documented record of as many surviving SP250s as possible. We are in a position to help owners with informal queries on their cars, and sometimes the car’s history.
This leads us on to:
pasSPort which is a directory we publish every year. The 2019 edition contains the details of 923 SP250 cars located in 24 countries and it is FREE to entrants. For more information click on the pasSPort page
WE NOW HAVE THE FULL OR PARTIAL HISTORY OF 1709 CARS OF THE TOTAL OF 2656 BUILT.
We can increase this number with your help.
It is important to note that we are in association with the Daimler & Lanchester Owners’ Club (DLOC). At last count, it is estimated that approximately 350 DLOC members are SP250 owners and we have 700+ SP250 owners registered in pasSPort. We therefore urge SP250 owners to join the DLOC. SP 250s COME OUT TO PLAY
On Sunday 23rd August the Essex Group got together for a picnic. There was an excellent turnout with eight SP250 visitors plus two resident SPs.
SP250 specialist Robert Grinter decided to be different and drove his recently acquired Barker Special Sports.
Luck prevailed, as after a period of unsettled weather we were blessed with a dry afternoon. Everybody was just grateful to be out together with their cars. This will not be the last event of the Summer as there are a couple of shows in the next few weeks that some of the group will be attending.
On a sadder note, after much consideration the Club have decided not to take a stand at the Birmingham NEC Classic Car Show in November 2020 after attending for many years. We hope to return in 2021.
